WaterRower... Heart Rate Monitoring
r The WaterRower S4 Performance Monitor incorporates a heart rate monitoring feature. The heart rate system used is a Polar system. This feature requires a heart rate receiver box and a Polar T31 uncoded transmitter belt Please not that the Receiver Box only works with the Polar T31 transmitter belt and not with other transmitter belts from brands such as Times, Garmin or Suunto.
Once the receiver box has been plugged into the receiver port on the left hand side of the monitor and the customer is wearing their T31 transmitter belt, only then will the heart rate function be visible on the S4 monitor. A common question we get is "Are WaterRowers heart rate compatible?". The answer is yes, however to display the heart rate on the monitor you require both the receiver box and transmitter belt. No rowing machines have sensors in the handles do to the fact the handles are attached to a recoiling strap/ chain.
The S4 monitor allows you to set required heart rate zones, so that when you are above or below your set zone and audible and visual signal is produced on the monitor. When you are above the set zone, your relevant position is show by the zone increment indicators.
